I tried starting my van and no power. Alternator belt still on. need to know if it is the alternator or battery or connection or something else?

If the van is completely dead, as in no dome light comes on, then you have a wiring short or you left something on. If the van has juice but not enough to start, its probably something along the lines of a junk battery, alternator, starter, or any connections. Any local mechanic could tell you.
