Replacing my head gasket

Asked by bdonez Feb 27, 2017 at 10:56 PM about the 1998 Pontiac Sunfire

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I'm replacing the head gasket in a 98 Pontiac Sunfire with a 2.4l engine, do I
have to take off the timing chain to do so? I have followed the Chilton book so
far and have gotten as far as taking out the intake & exhaust camshaft
housing bolts, but the housings won't budge and I don't know how much force
to use, or what the next step is.

Disconnect the timing chain housing at the intake camshaft housing. Do not remove it from the vehicle.
