emergency brake stuck

Asked by Jan 28, 2017 at 03:31 PM about the 1998 Pontiac Bonneville

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My bonneville has a pedal style emergency brake
and it's stuck on. Anyone have any ideas how to fix

Try putting some pressure on the foot pad and pull the release at the same time.

This has a ratchet type push set push again for release. Try stepping on the pedal while a helper taps on the pedal bracket that's at the top of the pedal. This may get it to release. The ratchet mechanism needs to be lubricated with white lithium grease. HTH. -Jim
