Price Value Go Up For 2000 Pontiac Firebird?

Asked by Jared Mar 27, 2012 at 09:32 PM about the 2000 Pontiac Firebird

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

Is it worth keeping a 2000 Pontiac Firebird that's in excellent condition? Only has 98,000 original miles on it. Trying to see if the value of it will go up later since they no longer make them. It's currently sitting not driven for a while.

Thanks,

Jared

You'd likely have to hold on to it for a long time for it to be worthwhile...several decades at least...before it may or may not become the kind of car that nostalgic people with disposable incomes search and pay ridiculous prices for. Remember, the drive behind economic factors, such as the answer to your question, is supply and demand. For the value to increase, the supply has to reduce (which isn't just limited to production being halted, you have to figure in the vehicles still on the road), the demand has to increase, or to see what you're hoping for, you need both to happen. Either way, I see it as about a 50/50 odds, when played out over 25 to 30 years. I guess it just depends on if that sounds like your kind of bet.

People tell me all the time about my 2000 Firebird "Don't put any miles on that, it will be worth a lot soon". I think it depends. As long as I take care of it, someone will likely buy it for a decent price. I'm hoping I can hold on to it long enough to sell it for at least what I paid for mine.

Original parts and low mileage are important. Low mileage and original condition are also important. I will never sell my Pontiac for any amount of money, nor will I abuse it; for the shear reason that I plan to keep it in pristine condition and I enjoy it far too much. Rest assured that there are collectors out there that place a high than normal value on Pontiac vehicles. The Pontiac Firebird in its last years were beautiful, and the WS9 package was amazing.
