my 2001 Sunfire battery light will pop on sometimes and if I keep driving it and it will pop off and everything will charge but if I let it run it will cut off Thrones start again is it my alternator

Check or have your alternator checked should output 13.3-14.8 volts at he battery terminals when the cars idling make sure serpentine drive belt is not worn or slipping.
