You must first have a working key. Start the engine with your working key. Shut off the engine and remove the working key. Immediately insert the new key to be programmed and turn the ignition to the run position. Do NOT try to start the engine. Watch the security light on the dash. When it goes out, usually within 30 seconds, turn the ignition back to the lock position but do NOT remove the key. Now immediately start the engine with the new key. Your new key is now programmed to the vehicle. If you do not have a working key you'll have to let your local GM Dealer do it with a scan tool. HTH. -Jim
