how do i reset my computer to get rid of the check engine light on a 2005 grand prix 3800 im a garage do it yourselfer

You need a scanner capable of resetting the codes, but they will not go away unless they are fixed.

Check engine cannot be reset - it requires the offending condition to be fixed. The codes will re-initiate next time the car is run if the condition still exists and the light will come back on. Determine what code is being generated and then find and fix the problem.
