06 pontiac grand prix. Sometimes wont shift into 2md gear

Have a 06 pontiac grand prix. Sometimes
wont shift into second gear.  Sometimes it
will. When it wont shit i just keep stopping
and taling off again and. After a few
seconds or minutes it. Will shift on out.  
Never know when its gona act up. Might
drive all day and it never miss a gear then
might act up every time i stop and go

First, check trans fluid level. Low level can cause a lot of shifting problems. If fluid is good, the most likely cause is a defective shift solenoid. But it could be due to just a dying battery, as everything electrical requires a high enough voltage to work properly. Check battery and make sure it's good; you might even put it on a charger to make sure. You didn't mention any warning lights, but if any are on, you might also have a bad speed sensor, or a PCM problem. Best to have a transmission specialist diagnose this.
