Abs light coming on and off and hesitates to start

ABS light has nothing to do with your car not starting. It is telling you there is a fault with your Anti-lock Braking System (or doing its normal system check when you initially start the car). If the engine sounds like it is "dragging" when you try to start it, it may not be getting sufficient voltage from your battery. Have your battery checked or simply replace it if it is more than 3 years old.
