Audi A4 wont start

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2004 Audi A4 1.8T engine wont start, the battery
is fine I already checked that and i just got an oil
change on it yesterday the right oil was put in and
everything should be fine with that, but when i try to
start my car it acts like the battery is dead, the
windows wont go up or down but all the warning
lights will come on and the car will make a
humming sound but wont turn over. Thinking that
this was a problem with the battery, i tried to jump it
and all that happened was the battery started
smoking so i know the battery was perfectly fine
amd quickly took the jumper cables off, i have no
clue what the problem might be, can somebody
help me with this?

Hi! Is there any way for you to see how much charge your battery has left? I would start there first. If your battery only has a little bit of juice left, that WON'T be enough for the Starter Motor to kick in at all to turn the engine over. Starter Motors will not turn over or engage if the car's battery is too low. If that doesn't work, the next place to look is your spark plugs and ignition coils. Check those out - bad plugs will have black residue on the metal tips, and bad coils will have white / orange residue on the bottom tips where they sit on top of the spark plugs.
