Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Came home from work 2 days ago and all was OK. Woke up next morning and my 2001 Oldsmobile Alero made funny noise when changing gears, then in a little while while the car was warming up, smoke came from the starter area and now car is dead. I disconnected the battery to prevent an electrical fire, but when the smoke wne out I reconnected it and no the battery is dead. When tried to jump start it, by connecting another battery the starter made a sound like its trying to turn, but the ignition key is not even in the switch. PLEASE HELP I HAVE NO MONEY

Well guys I didn't get any feedback , but I was able to solve it myself, so I will post for the benefit of others. I replace the Starter (apparently the problem was with the Solenoid) and my Battery was 3 years old so I replace that as well. The car now runs like a charm Good luck to all.. ListGuy.
