'01 Oldsmobile alert no shift, overheat false dashboard

Asked by May 12, 2017 at 02:52 AM about the 2002 Oldsmobile Alero

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

It's been a slowly accelerating issue. I bought the
car a year and a half ago and the problem occurred
very irregularly and mechanics were all over the
place. As I accelerate, my RPMs match my MPH
times 1000(so 40 mp/h = 4000 rpms). My low
traction light turns on and the thermometer says I'm
overheated even if I just started the car. As I said, it
doesn't happen every time, only occasionally and it
could be coincidence but it's mostly on warm days
