Does a 1996 nissan cefiro have an altenator?

My cefiro starts ok with a newly charged battery but doesnt seem to hold the
charge.

Yes it does, you should have the charging system checked out, the alternator may not be working or if it is working you could have a battery draw. HTH

It does unless there is something new like recharging the battery with a phone app, or alien intervention, or something I haven't heard about yet-
