1997 maxima car shut off while driving replaced battery engine began smoking 10 min after being off?

Asked by Ever1234 Aug 13, 2017 at 10:16 PM about the 1997 Nissan Maxima

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was driving car and it shut off while driving so I assumed I needed a new
battery. Replaced the battery parked the car in the garage passenger
wouldn't roll up. Went into the garage 10 minutes later entire garage filled with
smoke billowing out of engine passenger side of the car by the front of the
engine. Stopped smoking once I disconnected the battery. Smoke had a
weird smell coolant/electrical burn. Any ideas what it could be? Have had the
car for 20 years with no issues

Battery has no connection to the engine smoking whatsoever. I think you've been inhaling from tailpipe bud
