Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Rebuilt starter in 1954 chevy corvette with original inlilne 6.  When engine is
warm stater willl drag.  Chevy inline 6 for this is higher compression than
standard inline 6.  Is this the wrong starter for t his and if so how do you tell.

So the starter has something worn, like brushes, bearings, armature out of round. Plus you could have voltage/amperage issues due to bad power and ground cables, tired battery. Engine could also have a crankshaft problem, may not be absolutely straight and will bind in the bearings when warmed up.

Look for an aftermarket gear reduction starter for your car.
