2004 Nissan x ebrake is stuck

Daughter pushed on the e brake but doesn’t know
how to release it. Told me it’s stuck.  I’m in SC she’s
in OR. How do you release the ebrake. I thought
there was a handle?

ebrake release is on the right side next to center console
