Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Has anyone figured out a solution to the battery drain issue I've been reading about? I just purchased a brand new 2020 forester and the battery died after not driving it for about 36 hours.

You can mess with the dealer replacing your crappy Subaru battery with more crappy Subaru batteries or you can buy a good battery like Interstate, Optima or Odyssey. Your choice. Since it is brand new I would have them give a go at least once or twice. You should get a good set of jumper cables or a quality jump start battery pack!

One defective battery can happen, unfortunately. But if it becomes a recurring problem something else is wrong with it. Keep all documents in case it becomes a Lemon Law claim! In the meantime, every time it drops dead on you have the Dealer tow it in under warranty! They'll get tired of it and look for the underlying cause. Hope that helps! Jim

FOR's got this one. Get SOA to eat another battery, but only expect it to last 1-3 yrs max; then go grab a nice Group 25 or 34 Interstate from COSTCO under $100. I buy a half doaen per year for my young Outbacks and Legacies here near Boston.
