ers acceleration problem

ok so I just got my transmission rebuilt in my 96 ers its a automatic trans. 420a and I got maby 5 miles from the shop and the motor started to not accelerate properly and also it now sounds like a v8 motor that runs way rich lol I am totally dumbfounded to what is going on with the eclipse now. ive never heard a car make a change in exhaust noise this drastic. what could be the problem?
