Loud motor

2000 mitsubishi montero sport has new
battery new starter. Engine loud ticking
noise. Hard time accelerating to 30mph.
Ticking noise still continues...what could be
wrong??? Help plz

Ticking could be valve train but a knock could be a bad rod bearing.

Would any of those make the car completely shut off when you slow down?
