I just went thru this with my 92. the rubber bushings and wear on the shaft from the bottem of the shifter to the trans are worn out and missing . take the shaft off and install steel bushings and washers to correct end play . It is a little bit of work but it can be done . My 92 now shifts better now than when new . The steel bushings you can get at a hardware store or auto store .
