Changing Drive Belt

Asked by Alex May 01, 2017 at 10:28 AM about the 1998 Mazda B-Series

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I recently got a 98 Mazda B 2500 truck and when i started the engine sparks
and smoke started coming out of the A/C Compressor Clutch. I want to get a
smaller drive belt so i can drive the truck around without A/c until i can fix it. Is
there an easy way to figure out the proper size belt i should get?

You can do this with a close line rope. Run the rout you want for the belt, and measure its total length. You should be within a inch of what your looking for, if the belt doesn't fit bring it back for the next longer or shorter belt.

No, what you can do is get what's called a A/C pulley bracket, you take off the A/C compressor and install this bracket with pulley. it will replace the A/C compressor and allow you to use the same belt as before !
