95 mercury villager restarting
I bought a 95 villager that had been sitting for
almost 2 years. Got fresh gas, plugs n plug wires,
egr valve (oold was was cracked where the hard
line goes in) and a new starter and battery.... when
i turn the key on halfway to where the fuel pump
kicks on there is a slow tempo clicking from
somewhere (sounds like its next to the middle seat
in the "side arm"panels near the tempurature
controls.... i also replaced alot of split vacuum
lines and a few fuel lines that where crapy
I think you should have done a compression test after fogging the cylinders to see if the motors good , , if it checked out o.k. then drop the gas tank and clean it , what about the frame is it rotted out ? , so did it fire up when you started it ?
Fuel pump sounds OK. Does it turn over and start? Is the battery good? (most likely not) Have you measured fuel pressure?
Its a new battery and it turns over and almost does but never actually fires up. Ive got spark at the plugs, how would i check the fuel pressure.
Buy a gauge at the auto store. Also, your pressure regulator could be bad, there's a test for that with the gauge. Also, change the fuel filter. Some are under the car, some under the hkood.
