Question type: General

Pushed start button , all guages
dashboard audio, lights all came on but
engine would not crank over.  Next day

Just leased one have the same issue there going to disconnect the after market remote start then I'll drive it for a few days if it don't happen there going to put in a factory one ? Noticed when it happened the brake peddle felt stiff , the same thing happened after picking it up the second time told them they need to let it sit before trying it not just keep turning it on and off over and over I even told mechanic to take it home for a few days . He laughed my wife doesn't want it anymore.

Just purchased a 2020 equinox, had for 2 weeks now and having the same issue the brake pedal goes stiff and the vehicle just cranks will not turn over after the vehicle sat for a couple hours it finally turned over. If this is a known problem Chevy better come up with a fix quick. Otherwise they can take this vehicle and shove it were the sun don’t shine.

Just had my 2020 towed today. Just got it a month ago. Would barely turn over to start, car would shake and make noises before starting. Then within a minute of sitting in driveway car would shake and make noise then die on me. I pray I didnt get the lemon on the lot.

I have a 2019 and it has been nothing but problems. This am it would not start at -32 and it was plugged in and yes there is power to the cord as I checked. I cannot even unlock the vehicle. I have been a chevy Gm gal for many years but this vehicle has been a true lemon. I own a 2004 chevy half ton and have never had a problem with it. Newer vehicles have to many computer compontents

I've had my 2020 Equinox for 3 weeks, it sat overnight in a heated garage and would not start this morning. I tried jumping it twice an hour apart, the car was getting power but not enough to crank. And of course when tow truck showed up an hour later the car started on it's own. Waiting to see diagnosis.

Well the 2020 that I only had 5 weeks with 700 miles on it, ended up in service for 6 weeks. They said there was an internal leak in the fuel pump. Took weeks in service waiting on a part that was on manufacture back order. Now that I have it back, I'm nervous. So scared it wont start again or will die on me in the middle of road.

Its a security system issue. There is a physical key in the side of the key fob. Pop it out and use it to lock and unlock the driver door. The actual key hole is hidden under the little plastic cover next to the handle. Pull the handle slightly and then pop off the cover from the bottom. Lock and unlock the door and then start it normally and it should work.

My problem is that it will turn on and pretty much get to auxiliary mode, but doesn’t think it’s in park so then I can’t turn it off. I have to shift the gears back and forth until it lights up red and then I can start it.

I’ve had my new 2020 Equinox for two months and I am having the same issues of the car not starting. First time it happened I took it to the dealership but they couldn’t find anything wrong. It’s happened again several more times. It won’t start, check engine light comes on, I’ll wait for 20 mintues and try again and the engine starts and the check engine light is off. It’s very random so no one knows what the problem is but I never know when or if the car will start. A brand new car with 1300 miles should not have this problem!

Ed92626 It sounds like it’s trying to start. Sometimes it will turn over and start and run for a few seconds and then it dies. Other times it won’t start at all. All lights, radio, etc work during this time. After I let it set for awhile and then push the ignition button will it start. We are also getting different error codes each time this happens. Battery voltage is good but when we tried testing the battery, machine wouldn’t read it like it wouldn’t recognize the battery.

The GM technician found a broken connector to the transmission module. Have your dealerships check this!

Dealership replaced the EMC. They followed Chevrolet’s troubleshooting guidelines and don’t know if this has fixed the problem so they are keeping it for a couple more days to see what happens. This is the second dealership that has looked at the car in the past two weeks. We purchased the car new. It was a 2020 holdover with only 400 miles on it. We thought we were getting a good deal but apparently not. It has left me stranded three times. Living in a rural area where cell service is unreliable makes having a car that won’t start even more stressful. My husband asked the dealership about Chevrolet’s buyback program and they said that we didn’t qualify for it because the issue we were experiencing was intermittent. What does that have to do with it? We never know if it will start and apparently the dealership doesn’t know how to fix it. Hopefully the new EMC will work but we are considering trading it even if we have to take a financial loss.

I recently bought a 2019 Chevy Equinox and I'm having the same problem. The car would not start sometimes. It's very frustrating because you never know when it's going to happen and the Dealership have no idea how diagnose it, let alone fix it. I believe it's a Manufactures defect. We should all contact GM and have them take care of the issue.
