2019 Ford Ranger Auto Start/Stop Feature

Asked by Guru8MF87 Jan 09, 2020 at 02:23 PM about the 2019 Ford Ranger

Question type: General

Purchased 2019 Ford Ranger Lariat. Do not need automatic engine stop/start feature - actually it is a hinderance for my use.  Other than manually disabling the feature each time the engine is started, and without damaging that feature or other feature(s), is there a method to disable the feature until I want to reenable it days, weeks, months, or years later?

Most vehicles have the Auto Start stop as part of the systems today. You might convince the Ford Dealer to disable the function, but that would require paying for some programming, if in fact it can be done. After a week, you will get used to hitting the disable button after the start button.

Thank the government! There is probably a temporary measure to disable this annoying feature but you would have to do it every time you start the car. There may be an aftermarket remedy so look online.

Some vehicles turn the feature off when towing. If you plug in a trailer light tester into the light harness you can trick the vehicle into thinking you are towing

I have a 2019 ford ranger xlt and my start/stop feature quit working and I'm told by the dealer that it is a drain on the battery and although I'm still under warranty, ford will not remedy the problem until it drains the battery to their acceptable percentage whatever that is, the dealer didn't say but at the time of service I was told it was at currently at 69%.
