What does it mean when the check engine light comes on and the battery light as well stays on? No hot air is blowing through the vent also. What could it be?

I'm going to suggest the MAIN ground connection....1/0 battery cable to frame connection is corroded...wire brush both the chassis ground and the cable lug for restored 300 cold cranking amp potential~
