When I drive the front tires make a vibrating sound and its kind of noisy

Asked by SashaRae Oct 15, 2015 at 06:12 PM about the 2001 Mazda Tribute

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The front and back wheels are making a really odd sound. It sounds like a
vibration, its not to bad but its worrying me. I was told that it was a differential
because I'm pretty sure its an all wheel drive. But I don't know what it is,
should I get it checked? OR is there a part that is wrong and should I just buy
it?

If it is comeing from the front and rear sounds to me your tires are cupped or chopped, this happens to some tires more so if not rotated on a reg basis, rub the palm of your hand over the surface of the tire you should not feel any edges that are higher than the rest, The tire should be flat and smooth,if not theres your problem

I just put 4 tires on a ford Escape, before i changed them it sounded like a combine going down the road, and had a viberation, With new tires quiet and smooth just like new

finding that a lot of sites report tires are very responsible for road noise in Tributes. had mine checked out at firestone and they said it was tires. didn't believe and ended up with it on jackstands in the driveway with it going 50, couldn't find any noise with a stethescope on all of the bearings and driveline. scary but now i believe we need new tires. any good brand and model recommendations?
