Legal exhaust

Asked by 59apache3200 Nov 16, 2018 at 12:51 AM about the 1959 Chevrolet Apache

Question type: Car Customization

Ok, im building my grandpa's 59 apache 3200
which came with a 235 straight 6, and no cat in the
exhaust, if i get a newer engine, get rid of the
elctronics and replace it with a carb kit, will it still
be legally exempt from a cat? I have the factory
models archive dowloaded so i know all this to be
accurate.

Check your states laws. In California anything 1975 or older is exempt.

Ive checked and cant find the law for my state (Ar) closest i got was if the vehicle was made with a cat, and an older engine is put in it it is illegal to take out the cat, but if the vehicle is made without one and a new engine put in, says nothing on that

Your Answer:

Apache
