What problems may arise with supercharging a new GM 350 engine?

I bought the 290hp 350 from a GM
dealership as a base model crate
motor. I want more power. I don't
want to have to mess with routing the
exhaust for a turbo, so I'm thinking
about adding a supercharger. I was
looking at a weiand 144. I don't know
enough to be comfortable with
slapping down cash on a
supercharger if its gonna ruin my
engine. Am I going to need to replace
the heads? What System would you
reccomend?

As long as you keep the boost around 6 psi you should not have any problems. I would definitely get headers and 3" exhaust to get rid of all the extra air going through the motor. And if you don't care too much about fuel mileage maybe get a cam. It will sound better and give you more power.

forced induction, to truly benifit from it you need to build a motor around it. Lower compression to allow for more boost. Beefier internals to put up with it. Also different cam profiles come into play with a boosted motor.
