2017 Mini Countryman trunk won't open

Asked by MaryAP70 Jul 28, 2017 at 08:33 AM about the 2017 MINI Countryman

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Took car to dealership and they say sand got into. A lot of
sand. I was at the beach but my car sat in the Cindi
parking lot locked up after I unloaded on Thursday. Went
to load it Monday night and latch won't rehearse. Motor
on latch runs. Dealership blaming sand. Question:  how
could sand have gotten into a closed up trunk latch?  Is it
a defect of car?

...the only sand there is, is getting thrown onto your eyes...
