Why won't my car start?
I have a 2017 volkswagen Passat, I have to press
the brake pedal in order to start, the pedal is hard
to press, the key will turn but the vehicle will not
start, the clock is spinning, the trip miles is on 0.0,
all the dashboard lights and radio are in and
Windows work, please help.
The power assist relies on engine vacuum. When the car is off, there will be a little stored vacuum in the system, but when you push the brake pedal when the car is off, the vacuum reserve is quickly exhausted. Once all vacuum is gone, if the engine is off, the brake pedal will be hard to press because the power assist (via the vacuum) is not present. This negates the ignition. all the accessories receive power when the key is switched to on, however.
the same thing is happening to y vehicle right now. did you figure out what happened to yours so I figure out how to proceed?
