Serpentine belt length

Asked by Jan 18, 2016 at 01:17 PM about the 2004 Lincoln LS

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My power steering pulley just fell off of my 04
Lincoln ls. Seeing power steering as a luxury,  I'd
like to bypass it completely. Does anyone happen
to know what length I'd need to do so?

Are you sure can even do that and keep tension on it? What engine? I don't think you can.

Believe me driving a Lincoln without power steering is not going to be easy not mention dangerous to you and everyone else on the road, especially if you have to make fast maneuvers, if you were involved in an accident and it was discovered that the power steering was unhooked, liabality could fall on you and your insurance cancelled. The pulleys are not that much money and if you have the tools, not that hard to replace. I would recommend repairing it.

It's the 3.9. I'm looking for a quick fix, because I have 24 hours before it gets towed.

The biggest issue I'm having is having to be at work. Lol

Do you have any mobile mechanic services in your area, they can go to your vehicle and fix it where is stands, sure it costs more but your problem will be solved. Or if you have towing insurance just have it towed to a shop or your home.

There are none, and my policy doesn't include towing.

Sounds like your walking home or calling a local garage to tow it to their garage for repair.

After looking at the way the belt is configured I don't believe there is a way around the power steering pump and still make the other drives work as they should.

I bought my 2004 LS used in 2009 and kept up the maintenance. I have not had any problems like you all are talking about. The vehicle runs great.
