1994 4 cylinder Ford ranger

Went to start it at my lunch break til barely rolled
and clicked two time and I lost all power to the
truck, I hooked jumper cables on it and it sat for a
few mins and when I went to start it the terminals
were smoking

Possibly a bad battery connection. I hope you did not reverse polarity.
