1994 Ford ranger 5 speed

My 94 ranger only drives in neutral  and
feels like 5th gear and can't get it to shit
out of neutral whats wrong

Sounds like this is a manual transmission, have the shift linkage checked, and if the shifter goes into the top of the transmission, these parts wear, and a new shifter put in. Is there a problem with the clutch?
