CRV Oil Change Question

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So, I have a 2016 CRV. Have owned it only 3 months, but already have
10,000 miles on it. Drive it long distances weekly. I got the oil changed at
5,000 miles, per recommendation. But, that was about a month-and-a-half
ago. It is now "due" for another oil change, according to mileage. Yet, the
digital display readout says 70% (nowhere close to the 15% that is the
suggested percentage for getting the oil changed). Any recommendations?
Should I just do it every 5000 miles, or wait a bit?

I wouldn't go over 5000 miles unless ur using fully synthetic oil

I do 7,500 in mine since it is mostly highway miles. 7,500 or 1 year which ever comes first. Read your owner's manual and change the oil per the manufacturer recommendation or sooner.

Every gasoline engine should be changed every 3000-4000 miles if you are not using full synthetic oil. if you use full synthetic then you change the filter every 3-4000 miles and then at 12,000 miles you change it all. Just don't use Quaker state brand oil

The 3,000 mile oil change is a thing of the past.

My manual does not state any mileage per se for my 2013 Honda CRV. It just mentions Oil Life % Remaining indicator. Recommended to get it done before 5% remaining. I have read also that to plan to get it done when the 15% so that it will be changed well before the 5%. I am at 5,103 miles now. I am planning on getting it changed very soon within this week tho as its been 3 months and 2 weeks.

Follow your owners manual, Dealerships and repair shops often suggest more frequent maintenance than is actually necessary. If you are driving mostly highway miles I would just stick to the oil % indicator in the vehicle. It is also good to get in the habit of checking the oil level periodically (every few tanks of gas, or once a month depending on your usage) There are situations where you would want to change it more often, for example if you regularly tow a trailer, climb mountains, make frequent short trips etc. It doesn’t sound like any of these situations apply to you.
