how to remove starter cables
i have a 2007 ford e450 6.8. i have had starter problems so bought a new
one then noticed the terminals on the starter are corroded. thought it
wouldnt be too difficult to change them out but im running into a problem.
the wires wont budge on either the battery end or the starter end. ive
removed the termials ,positive negative and ground. it seems as though the
ground is connected to the oil pan with a plastic yellow threaded thing (i am
so amateur with all this so please forgive my lack of mechanic/automotive
vocab)
i cant tell how to remove the ground from the oil pan. when i pull on the
positive and negative cables alone they still wont give.
any advice would be awesom as this is my work vehicle and is my only
source of income.

Remove the positive cable from the battery first for safety. All you need is wrenches. Probably 12, 13 or 14mm. A socket wrench can make removing some bolts easier. Trace them out but you will have to get under the vehicle.

Thank you for your response. Yes I removed all cables from both battery and starter. The wires still won't budge

I was able to trace from underneath to wiggle the wires so a friend above could tell me which one was moving.

There's a lot going on all around the wires (other parts of the vehicle I have no idea what they are) I'm afraid to pull too hard, wondering if these wires may be attached to something else? Maybe I need to pull them harder? Just don't want to damage anything
If you unbolt the other end then they will come out unless they are tied to something which is a possibility. Look for ties that keep the wires routed away from the exhaust and suspension.

Awesome. I did feel something that I thought might be them tied up against the interior but again was afraid to disturb something I wasnt sure about. Any info on the grounded cable attached with a plastic connector to the oil pan?
That sound like a routing device and I would bet that it can be unhooked to allow the cable to be removed.
