CHECK ENG. LIGHTS = ABS, VC AND CHECK ENG. LIGHTS CAME ON WHEN STARTED THE CAR. USED CAR 1 HR. BEFORE WITH NO PROBLEMS. SO I SHUT CAR OFF, REMOVED AND REPLACED GAS CAP. STARTED CAR UP AGAIN- LIGHTS ARE OFF- AS I DROVE OFF-LIGHTS CAME BACK ON. STOPPED AT REPAIR SHOP, QUICK DIAG. CHECK - "COULD BE A COIL-HOPE ITS IN FRONT, IF IN BACK WHOLE TOP HAS TO COME OFF" NOT RELATED TO BRAKE PROBLEM........SUGGESTED I LEAVE CAR - NOT DRIVE HOME. CAN SOMEONE SHED SOME LIGHT ON WHAT IS GOING ON AND IF REPAIR FACILITY IS ON TARGET WITH THE PROBLEM?
NOT TOO CONFIDENT IN MECHANICS ABILITY. ANY THOUGHTS
AND/OR RECOMMENDATIONS WOULD BE APPRECIATED.
Did they give you the codes? Those codes are the first phase of the diagnostic procedures, without those there is no way to tell if they are headed in the right direction or not. So if it was a misfire code could be a coil, spark plugs, restricted injectors. ABS and VC have thier own set of codes, so they have to be diagnosed separately.
