Asked by GuruTD3Z8 Jun 11, 2018 at 05:38 PM about the 2016 Chevrolet Traverse

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When I drive on a long trip my 2016 Chevy Traverse will make a pinging sound
after I have been driving for approximately 5 hours. It eventually will go away.
There are no warning lights.  Seat belts are fastened.  I have approximately
40,000 miles on it.

I discovered that if I have a bottle of water or a small bag sitting on the passenger seat, eventually it will trigger the "passenger seat air bag is on" light and will make the pinging sound. Apparently it may sense that a small child is sitting there that shouldn't be and warns the driver.
