Engine is being replaced on my 2016 Volvo XC90
while under warranty, does my warranty start over
back at zero miles because it's a new engine?

Right, the engine will come with its own warranty- WHY did you need a new engine so soon?! Warranty or not, if the factory can't put a good engine in, why trust another engine- get the car fixed, sell it, and get some other kind of car-
