Nissan CVT's are a disaster. Check with Nissan and they may replace your transmission under warranty.

i have a 2016 Nissan Rogue SL and my transmission stopped working in the middle of the highway !!!!!! thank god i was able to pull over. out of no where i just couldn't push on the gas. I had no lights come on and when my fiance took my car to the dealership they said nothing was wrong and it was working fine again ! they did a scan of my car after my finance was persistent and said something was wrong. well wouldn't you know a bunch of errors came up. my car is now in the shop and getting a brand new transmission. after my research the CTV transmission is garbage. they are known for failing and breaking. thank god i'm still under warranty or id be looking at a $5000 bill. they are putting another CTV transmission in so this will liking happen again. we now have to consider taking a hit and ditching the car.

Hello! I'm looking for people who have less than a 100k miles who are having issues with their CVT. Are you willing to chat?

This is not a "chat" site. You post your question and wait for answers. My suggestion is to post a new question rather than on an old thread like this one.

My wife 2014 Rogue CVT went out around 63K mile on the vehicle. Luckily we were still under warranty and Nissan replaced the CVT without any cost to us. We will be getting a new vehicle soon.

My 2016 Nissan Rogue SV just blew out it's CVT at 43,000 miles. Repair covered under warranty. Total cost for the replacement was $3440. Also, a year ago my Rogue had the popular driver's seat assembly problem. The entire thing was replaced at the cost of $1250. Thankfully that repair made it under the warranty as well. That's close to $5000 in repairs on a car that's 2 1/2 years old. I'm not sure what happened, but Nissan's are junk now. The Nissan heyday of the 90's is definitely over. Avoid Nissan, at least the ones with the CVTs, at all costs.

Just lost the CVT in my 2012 Rogue with 86K. No warning except whinning (by me too!) the day of; no dashboard warning lights. Dealer wants $4060. I've requested a case no. through Nissan and am shopping around for used CVTs (yeah - I know). Remanufactured (3-yr warranty) quote online is $2600 + 8-hrs labor (guessing ~$800). After experiences with Mazda and now Nissan, I'm returning to Honda or Toyota where my experiences for reliability and low maintenance costs has been stellar.

The CVT transmisions are belt drive, A belt driven Alternator, power steering pump or mower deck may be fine but no way to I want a belt in a sealed transmission where you have to completely dissemble the transmission to replace it. I would rather get a gallon a mile less fuel mileage and go with a standard transmission. Think about the things you have had to replace on your vehicles over the years and it's likely batteries and belts.

If it matters to anyone, Nissan did offer to pay 70% of parts & labor for replacing the CVT in my 2012 Rogue with 86K miles even though it was not included in their extended warranty. Used transmissions were scarce and the one that was found would've cost nearly as much as the new one installed by the Nissan dealer.

I have a 2017 Rogue with 26K miles mostly highway. The engine started getting louder, then a fluttering noise upond acceleration. Dealer kept the car to video and send to Nissan. So disappointed! I always tell everybody that I love the car except for the noisy engine. I miss my 98 Pathfinder!

I have a 2014 Rogue Select AWD. I recently had an issue with the cvt engine. It would shift while driving when the car was warmed up. Two days ago, it wouldn't shift out of first gear. The engine kept jerking like it was trying to shift to the next gear - which doesn't make sense since cvt's don't have gears. I took it to the dealer twice and they were not able to duplicate the problem. I'm seriously worried that it will happen again and leaves me stranded.

Hey there. We have a 2013 rogue. The transmission went out at 35,000 miles. Nissan dealership replaced it under warranty. Fast forward 18 months and that brand new transmission went out at 47,000 miles. I’ve absolutely had it with this car and will never buy another Nissan.

I have a 2015 Rogue and just had the CVT transmission replaced at 55,000 miles. It was covered under warranty and didn't have to pay anything. They told me that the new one would be good for the life of the car, but I wouldn't be surprised if I had problems with it again. Nissan isn't the only one having problems with this transmission, more and more car manufacturers are using them, Subaru, Toyota, Honda, etc. and they're also having problems with them.

Quote. "good for the life of the car" When the next transmission is dead so is the car ;)

I just had my transmission go out without warning in my 2016 Rogue on the highway. 122,000 hey miles with the engine looking great at all my checkups. This also happened with my 2014 but it was glitchy. I had been happy with this car until now. Still wrangling with Nissan because this shouldn’t happen! It’s been in the shop for 12 days now pending their decision. Ugh!!!Of course I’ll never have anothe rCVT transmission but I have to pay this one down before trading!!
