I dont have any experience working on BMW's. Afraid to buy, because I understand that the BMW x5 are the most expensive to repair of all luxury cars in the same group. I love the look.... also which year of the BMW X5 is the most reliable?

I would not want to work on a new BMW. If you can't afford BMW dealer shop rates buy a different car or buy a really good warranty.

Know this, a corner gas station type shop or chain type shop is not going to be able to successfully service and repair a BMW! My Nephew learned that the hard way with his '98 528i. If you're not going to take it to the dealer you'll have to find a reputable shop that specializes in imports. BMWs aren't cheap to fix either. So keep those things in mind before you buy! HTH. -Jim

BMW vehicles have more than their share of issues and these issues are very expensive to repair. Either buy one with a factory supported warranty or lease one. Be prepared for it to be in the service department a few times a year. I too like the look of the BMWs, but I likely would never buy one.

All that fine German engineering comes at a cost. I would love to own a M3 or M5 but I cannot afford the upkeep which is a lot more than other cars so I pass.
