04 Kia Sedona 3.5 shut down won't start .

Asked by Jul 19, 2019 at 12:32 AM about the 2004 Kia Sedona

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So the van check engine light came on a couple of
days ago. Had it check and came back spark
knock misfire . Crank shaft sincer . It was  rough
running in lower gears  from take off until about 45
and seemed to run great . Now  just tonight I was
driving it and drove about 10 miles I was at a stop
light and started smelling electrical burning then
some smoke from passenger side engine
compartment appeared so I pull over look no
smoke very little smell of burning. I had to drive it
to get it home . So I drove about 300 yards when all
of a sudden the temp gauge went from normal to
hot the motor shut off . And now won't restart .
Even after a couple hours of sitting . I did notice
the temp gauge would drop as if it was gulp a drink
out of a glass Everytime I tried to start it. It did
make a little squill when I came to a stop at the
stop light . That's all I have . I haven't tried anything
but restarting at this point . Just looking for ideas
before I switch the crank shaft sincor. Hope you
have something this is my only vehicle at this time
