2015 Jeep GC Uconnect software update FAIL

Asked by CBTrip Jan 22, 2019 at 09:12 PM about the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2105 Jeep Grand Cherokee w/Uconnect.  Tried to do the software update via the USB with the software downloaded from Uconnect's website.  Every time it gets to step 11 of 15 (67% completed), it says the air connect (I think) BOLO failed to install and to remove the USB stick to reset.  Remove the stick.  Next it says to wait 2-5 minutes and then it says to insert the USB stick.  It fails same place every time.  Problem is that now none of the other functions work and it's stuck in this remove the stick reinsert the stick routine.  Any help out there?  Unhooked to battery for a few minutes but that didn't work.  I'm going to try unhooking it overnight.......

I would suggest you wipe the USB drive and download the software again. Sounds like one of the files may be corrupt.

I have a RAM 1500 Laramie doing the EXACT SAME THING! It gets to Unit 11 of 15 and the update freezes. I'm locked in the update cycle and have to disconnect my battery to keep it from discharging because the radio never shuts down and continuously tries to update. I have tried both the flash drive sent to me from FCA as well as software downloaded directly from UConnect. My radio/navi system is completely nonfunctional now. The dealer was unable to install the software either and is trying to sell me a $1k plus radio.

I was having the same issue. The dealer installed a new radio free of charge. Had to wait 6 weeks for it. Ask the dealer, it is their problem, they force a broken update on you

I am having the same issue with my 2017 Jeep Cherokee. I have tried to insert their USB that they sent to me. It keeps getting stuck on #11 of 14 at 72%. I tried all weekend. I am out of warranty on my jeep since it has 75,000 miles. Help!!

Has anyone successfully fixed the update problem where the update shows minimal progress and then shuts off and the screen switches between the “wait 2-5 minute” and “plug in the USB connection” screen. I have a 2017 Jeep Cherokee limited and my update got to 66% of #2

I called UConnect back and they told me that there was a bug in the software and that I need to bring the car into a dealer for diagnostics—It made me wonder why UConnect would have originally told me how to download the update and then walk me through the process on the phone while doing it a couple of weeks ago. Anyway, I took the car to the dealer and the short story is that they couldn't fix it and are ordering a new radio. Should be here in a couple of weeks . . . It's unclear why a software update would require a new radio.

Hi ,I am Bert and I have a 2015 Jeep Cherokee and would like to share solutions to 2 issues which I recently found out are common. First I tried to update the software from 17:11:17 to 18:45:01 but failed at unit 11 a few times .Solution was to take out the system and unplug the purple jack which is responsible for cellular card and message "embedded air card" Once i did that , Update went thru like butter. Solution 2 is ,if you are getting the message "vehicle phone requires service contact dealer" just get a C-911 vehicle phone override cable for $13.50 from amazon and unplug the purple cable on the system and connect the override cable. I did both and problems are over. Hope this can help my jeep family.
