Speedometer doesn't work at all how do I fix this?

It worked before fine then someone put a
new compressor for my ac in and now it
doesn't work at all and while I'm driving it is
really jerky and it shows down!

sounds like the speed sensor is disconnected, or ajar ,it would be on the transmission tail somewhere with a wired jack plugged in to it
