Power steering behaves oddly.

Asked by Jul 03, 2019 at 02:55 PM about the 2015 Chevrolet Sonic

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The other day the Power steering in my car went out. But oddly it's not
completely gone.

What I mean is that the power steering will work, but the moment the wheels
turn far enough that the strain on the system would increase it gives
completely. So for instance it will turn off when turning sharply at a stop sign,
but changing lanes on a 50 MPH road will stay on. I also hear a click in the
dashboard behind the wheel when it turns off. the check steering light is
illuminated when this happens.

I plan to take it to a shop when I get paid, But I wounder why this is.

Thanks.
