Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Chevy Van 1978 G20 starts up and runs great but as of today it wouldn’t  turn
over after pumping gas so jumped start it and it turned. Got a new battery
and startup well and ran as normal until after driving it for a while got home
turned off and turned it back on and it wouldn’t start no clicks nothing. New
tranny new battery, all liquids are good, will tune up spark plugs oil change
will replace coils in a day. What am I to look for while under the hood?  What
is causing it to not turn over?

Might be a bad voltage regulator that stops working when it overheats. If the regulator is in the alternator, it could be a bad alternator heating up and causing the regulator to stop working. Based on your question, I think that's the best answer, but you should go to a car parts store and have the alternator, regulator and new battery checked.
