I have a 1995 Ford Explorer.
Occasionally the “Overdrive Off” will
begin flashing while I’m driving. What
could be causing this?
The indicator bulb is probably going to burn out..Could try pulling gauge cluster n replaced the bulb n see if it fixes the issue..if your not having any tranny issues just the light acting up the bulbs definitely probably going bad..
OD light flashing indicates a transmission problem; it could be a transmission mechanical, hydraulic or electrical in nature. Also, overfilling can cause fluid to foam and this can cause all kinds of symptoms. Explorers are known to have had transmission troubles.
Thank you Ed9626 and Boostdy8! I appreciate your feedback VERY Much!! They are VERY helpful! Evidently the Ford Fairy visited during the night because the next day when I went to drive it there wasn't a flashing OD light. I love driving the Explorer. It needs some TLC, I bought it used and it's showing 290+k miles.
I'm glad the Ford Fairy blessed you this time. The problem is that she usually comes back with a VENGEANCE.
LOL oh my! I'm afraid you are correct. So I'm talking nicely to her and telling her what a champion she is......then I hold my breath, say a prayer and start her up!
