starts runs rough gets worse noise gets louder right side of motor where camsaft bearing would be

I would remove the timing belt and put a dial indicator on the cam itself and put a rag under the cam using a pry bar and see how much play you have. Or, just remove the head and have a machine shop rebuild it for you with hew bearings for the cam, grind the valves, new valve stem grommets. You can buy a head kit at the parts store and for around $125 or less and the total head job machining is around $200 or so.
