1997 Jeep Wrangler 4cyl cranks but wont start

Asked by Jul 26, 2017 at 07:38 PM about the 1997 Jeep Wrangler

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Having a hard problem figuring this no start problem out.  I have spark at the spark plugs. The engine cranks over but wont fire.  I have tried starter fluid directly into the throttle body and it makes no difference, but turns over.  I pulled the Crankshaft Position Sensor and it has open resistance as specified.

I was thinking fuel pump, but the non firing with starter fluid sprayed directly into the throttle body has me scratching my head. I would think that it would at least fire for a second.

First time working on a jeep....any help would be greatly appreciated. I replaced the battery.
