Question I have is there is a blue light that comes on during starting. After I start the car it stays on for a while. Is this a warm up light? Do I need to wait for it to go out or can I drive off while it is lit?

It's a little light that looks kinda like a thermometer? It just means the coolant is not up to operating temp and yes you can drive with it as it will go off as soon as it's warm enough.

Yup. Keeping the revs under 4k for a few minutes is a good idea, of course, until full warmup, especially in winter.
