Dodge Journey won’t start. Replaced battery,
all lights radio and ac will come on, all we get
is a clicking noise each time we try to start.
Sounds like your starter died. Most common thing to do first is find it and give it a couple of whacks. If the car starts, DO NOT SHUT IT OFF. Take it to your local mechanic and let them fix it there. If the car doesn't start, then you're going to need to have it towed to your local mechanic and have him/her figure it out. Good Luck!
That's good advice for starter problems. When you try to start the car, do you hear one click? If so, that's likely the starter. If you hear repetitive clicks, that's likely a dead or dying battery.
My 2009 Dodge Journey does this every once and a while. Have you tried this trick? Put car in neutral, push on brake pedal and turn key in ignition to start. See if that helps. Its worked for me many times. I think there should be a recall on this issue because it seems a lot of people have this problem as well..
what you're describing is a defect in the neutral safety switch; It allows current to flow to the starter only in neutral and park. Your park position is burned; preventing current to flow. But in neutral, you have a contact surface that hasn't been used and current flows to the starter. You can live with this quite well, or you can replace the switch and get back to starting in park.
